Role competence as a resocialization factor for drug addicts: Research program

Анотація

The research program of role competence is substantiated as a resocialization factor for drug-addicted persons; objective and subjective resocialization indexes are distinguished; stages, methodologies and research target groups are defined. Theoretical approaches to the understanding of role competence are classified as phenomenological and structural. The presented model of empiric research is based on a hypothetical structure of role incompetence of a drug addict with corresponding expressional dimensions and indexes. Social roles of a drug addict (role deviations from social normative roles, formed as a result of his/her personality’s alienation from society) are included among the latter to outline the external structure of role incompetence, as well as his/her interpersonal roles (victim, simpleton and others like that), that create pathological stereotypes on social cooperation and pull an addict into "unhealthy" communication circle; and also personality vital roles that result in self-stigmatization ("I am an addict, a pariah, an outcast"). Internal structure includes such components as: cognitive (limited nature of an addict’s knowledge about roles’ nature, as well as about mechanisms of role cooperation, that make him/her not able to get rid from dependence and to carry out successful resocialization); connotative (possessing a stereotype role set that does not correspond to age characteristics of an addict and does not assist with formation of mature, autonomous behavior; uncritical perception of role expectations in narrow communication circle; role conflicts and emotional tension) and motivational-reflexional (unconscious entry into a role, inability to valuesbased reflection of role identification processes). List of integral indexes of role incompetence is formed: low role behavioral variability, role rigidity and deep identification of a personality with the socio-psychological role of a drug addict. The hypothesis is made, that forming of role competence by means of active personality influence technologies will facilitate addict’s establishment as role subject, as well as behavioral self-sustainment and realization of his/her own senses and life values. Further research prospects are outlined, that consist of empiric model verification during formative experiment in determination of how role competence of a former drug addict influence on his/her resocializational success.
